Social Media Café
The Social Media Café continues to grow in size since starting 12 months ago.
On the very first week 4 sat around the table in the Green room at the West End Centre and spoke about the reasons for both hosting the café and who should attend.
It has since grown in size to where the first opportunity to host it in the hall on Friday 1st May 2015 meant over 70 people attended.
A range of discussions take place every week and with the new regular time slot of 11.30am-2.00pm in the Hall means there is plenty of room and pop-up stalls from organisations to raise awareness of support services available to LCiL members.
Now in July 2016 we can get up to 100 people attending every week.
Here are the thoughts of some regular attendees to the weekly sessions:
Andy Williams says, “Social Media Cafes provide a great and friendly environment for sharing and learning. Not everyone uses computers and to have good, old-fashioned, face-to-face conversations with people can be of great benefit to all concerned. It is certainly what I have found!”
Andy Mutha says, "Mental or physical disability alongside culture or ethnicity finds no stigma at the Social Media Café This allows the only true integrated networking social group I know of in Leicester Leicestershire or Rutland."
Everyone is welcome to attend this free weekly session.
