Sign up for home loft insulation help  - 2 Aug 2012 shimAdd News758 to Scrapbook

People across Leicester are being urged to take advantage of an offer of free loft insulation before the scheme comes to an end.

Leicester City Council's Hot Lofts scheme has proved to be a success since its launch in July 2005, and has provided free loft insulation to over 7,000 homes across the city.

Funding for the scheme is due to come to an end in December, so residents from all parts of the city are being reminded to take advantage of the offer while it is still available. The Government's Carbon Emission Reduction Target (CERT) funding, which finances the scheme, comes to an end on December 31.

The scheme is free to all private sector homes regardless of household income.

Leicester Deputy City Mayor responsible for climate change work, Cllr Rory Palmer, said: "The Hot Lofts Scheme has been very popular and has improved the insulation and energy-efficiency of thousands of homes across the city.

"I'd urge anyone who would benefit from improved insulation to get in touch and arrange for the work to be carried out, as proper insulation will help reduce household energy bills and help cut the city's carbon footprint."

To find out more about the Hot Lofts Scheme contact the installers Mark Group on 0800 731 9654 to book a free insulation check survey.

For further information on this or any other energy efficiency schemes run by Leicester City Council, contact the Home Energy Office on

Beware of scam holiday emails

At this time of year many of us are going away on holiday and scammers may try to use this to their advantage.

We have been informed of residents that they have had fake emails sent from their email account to everyone in their contacts list. This example suggests the person has been robbed while on holiday in Spain. The email asks for the recipient to loan them some cash so they can get back home.
