Our Library is currently under refurbishment and is therefore closed as we are relocating it to the third floor. The new library will be open from September 2010.
LCIL Library and information services
LCIL offers a specialist service, unique in Leicestershire, based on a library solely dedicated to information about disability issues. It aims to empower disabled people through providing information and knowledge and to inform others about disability issues in order to bring about the independence of disabled people.
Who can use the library and information service?
LCIL’s library and information service is open to anyone with an interest in disability issues. Recent users have included disabled people, their friends and relatives; Students from schools, college and university; and Architects, Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Doctors and Social Workers.

The Library and Information area
The library is based in our second floor, fully accessible premises. Information is available in different formats, including print, Braille, audio tape and video. The library holds a selection of reference directories, books, legal documents and reports on disability issues. There is also a large collection of journals and newsletters from national disability organisations.
The information area has a broad range of leaflets, a notice board with employment opportunities for disabled people, several information databases with adaptive software and access to the internet.
